This column is about her letting he kids go and letting them live their life.

My favorate line of the column is "We may be in charge of the prologue, but only they get to write the story of their lives." This is my favorate line because it sums up everything she was saying in the column. What she is saying is that as parents you can only raise your kids for so long before they're old and responsible enough to go on by them self. An example of syntax I found is she used a coma instead of a period to keep the sentence flowing and to keep the huge meaning from this line in the same sentence. An example of diction I found is she used the compared parenting to the structure of a book.
Krista Ramsey uses a lot of different kinds of syntax and diction throughout her column. For example she uses a variety of sentence lengths throughout the first column. She also likes to put two synonyms right after each other, for example "so young and connected that makes us feel old and left behind" she does this for emphases. Finally in her first column she used a lot of dashes to replace parentheses. Over all her writing varies throughout her column.
